I’m very pleased to announce the availability of task branching in this month’s update to the Patient IO platform.
Patient IO originated as a platform to deliver care-specific tasks to a patient and streamline the feedback process outside the four walls of care. A common question we’ve received is if we can tailor the experience based on an original response. With Patient IO 2.1, we now support the ability to assemble tasks together with complex branching logic.
Value To Healthcare
The process for collecting patient outcomes is largely paper based, making quality data expensive, error-prone, and time consuming to acquire. Results are hard to quantify and this is a real problem as healthcare shifts into a value-based model. With branching, we can author and deploy complex surveys to large populations with minimal effort.
Quality Of Life
There are hundreds of QoL surveys used across medicine, pharma, and other scientific trials. They aim to capture patient-reported outcome measures and can also be used to evaluate patient satisfaction, symptoms, disease state, or psychological well-being. One of the most common are the SF Health Surveys licensed by Optum. SF surveys can be used across age, disease / treatment group, and are appropriate for a wide variety of applications.
One of the most important surveys for hospital administrators is HCAHPS. HCAHPS intent is to provide a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients’ perspectives on hospital care. It contains 21 patient perspectives on care and patient rating items that encompass nine key topics: communication with doctors, communication with nurses, responsiveness of hospital staff, pain management, communication about medicines, discharge information, cleanliness of the hospital environment, quietness of the hospital environment, and transition of care.
Value To Patients
Our primary focus was to make it fast, easy, and convenient to complete detailed health surveys anytime, anywhere. Standardized health reporting is exceptionally valuable to providers for fine tuning and personalizing the care a patient receives during treatment. By making surveys simple to administer, we enable a more complete picture around the patient experience and quality of care to drive better health outcomes.
